GRUPO CORTEFIEL RECEIVES THE 2010 CEL BUSINESS AWARD FOR INNOVATION IN LOGISTICS - 

Grupo Cortefiel has received the 2010 Award from the Spanish Logistics Centre (Centro Español de la Logística, CEL) for its project entitled Redesigning and Implementing a New Global Supply Chain.

Berta Escudero, General Supply Chain Manager, collected the award at the ceremony held on 1 March in Madrid’s Hotel Villa Magna.

The CEL Award, created in 1990, aims to promote and boost logistics management in Spain and is committed to encouraging innovation in the sector. The award is given to those Spanish companies that have made a relevant contribution to the corporate supply chain sector, generating a major benefit or significant improvements to the standards and quality of the processes involved.

Thanks to this project, the Group has managed to turn its logistics systems into a competitive advantage:

• improving the standard of service to stores in terms of product presentation and delivery frequency and reliability;
• guaranteeing the network's supply capacity to handle the company's organic growth in sales and the number of sales outlets;
• and reducing store supply times and cutting the chain’s global costs.

Winning the CEL Business Award in Spain entitles Grupo Cortefiel to opt for the ELA (European Logistics Association) European Awards, where the Group will be competing against the winners from each country.
